Investigative digital storytelling setting an example

For good reasons, we'll feature digital stories from the world of journalism here. Because they set examples or show us what storytelling is all about.

So watch this recent story called Fatal Extraction from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists on how Australian Mining companies are behaving in Africa.

The consortium is a group op public-funded journalists that call themselves "the global muckrakers". This production gives a good insight in how they work. It is a set of six chapters on the dark activities of Australian mining companies exploiting the African society at all costs. Each chapter is a mixture of photography, short text and audiovisual clips; to its core it are ordinary African people testifying with stunning stories how criminal the mining companies are behaving.

"Fatal Extraction" is composed by collecting thousands of corporate documents, including legal complaints, contracts, confidential company emails, community petitions and more. To create an eye-opening and immersive digital experience that has also recently been announced as a finalist in two award competitions for innovation in multimedia journalism.
